Combat Submission Wrestling in Greater Manchester
CSW is a grappling system suitable for both beginners and experienced wrestlers and grapplers. The comprehensive system has attracted students from all sorts of disciplines, including gi-based jiu-jitsu students looking to strengthen their no-gi game.
Combat Submission Wrestling is suitable for both men and women with our club boasting dedicated female grapplers who regularly attend our mixed CSW classes.
As CSW is a no-gi grappling system, students may wear t-shirt or rash guard paired with a pair of shorts or grappling spats. Wrestling boots, gum shields and ear guards are optional and down to the student’s preference.
There are 10 levels in Erik Paulson’s CSW curriculum with gradings held 1-2 times a year. Each level consists of a number of different techniques from standing and ground, including takedowns, positioning, sweeps, guard passes and submissions. Each level’s syllabus follows on from the level before it and students are expected to confidently and correctly execute the techniques should they desire to grade in the CSW system. Taking part in gradings is optional and is not a requirement to train in CSW at the club.
